I think it was called a Ford Opel but I may have got that wrong. It was red. I bought it in the morning and took my test in the afternoon. Passed. (I failed first time 3 years previously.) Drove to Manchester (from Wales) next morning to start rehearsals for Romeo & Juliet.

I am now realizing it was a Ford Orion not Opel. Second hand. I got the colour right though. And I was 21.

The first car I drove in though was a Datsun Sunny. Silver. Didn’t buy that though. Not implying I stole it. Or ‘hot wired’ it as the lingo kids say. It was my Dad’s.

Drove into the back of a car in Manchester a few days later. It was unmarked police car. Very much enjoyed doing R&J though.
