The Banker (2004)

This very funny short film from 2004 stars Michael Sheen as a lonely sperm bank worker. It was written and directed by Hattie Dalton and produced by Kelly Broad. It also stars Jane Robbins who played Michael’s character Colin’s wife Sandra in Heartlands. The film won the BAFTA Award for Best Short Film in 2005.

This article tells how the film was initially rejected for funding by the Australian Film Commission, and how as well as appearing in it, Michael Sheen donated £5,000 towards funding it.

In a video that is now unavailable, writer/director Hattie Dalton said that as well as the donation Michael flew himself out to the shoot.
